Naturally occurring bacteria in soil can cause a reaction in horses sensitive to them. These bacteria thrive in damp conditions and are therefore usually of prime concern over winter when fields are wet and muddy. They then gain entry to susceptible tissue and initiate a localised bacterial reaction. This reaction varies in its intensity from a mild irritation to crustiness and hairloss which could cause unsoundness while the body tries to repair itself. Mud Gard is a highly innovative nutraceutical, combining over 50 ingredients. Herbs such as ginger and milk thistle provide a generous array of anti-oxidants, and these are combined with MSM and zinc for the maintenance of skin integrity. Mud Gard is recommended where ever the individuals' history suggests, or when the skin is weakened by wet and under attack from the harmful bacteria in mud.
