The use of Cod Liver Oil to 'loosen-up' the body has long been established and its effects are well documented.

Older and frequently stabled horses can fall prey to stiffness which, if not addressed, can lead to real problems. Certain fatty acids and vitamins are important in targeting this difficulty. All horses require essential fatty acids which they are unable to synthesize themselves. These polyunsaturated acids have several functions. In joints essential fatty acids contribute to the integrity of the synovial membrane surrounding the joint. The use of cod liver oil has long been established and it's effects are well documented. Cod liver oil is rich in vitamins A and D. Vitamin A is known to be involved in skin health and, again, in membrane integrity. Unfortunately vitamin A is quickly destroyed in the concentrated feeds and, hence, can be deficient in the working horse. A deficiency in vitamin D has been noted where incidence of increased joint breakdown have occurred. The stabled horse is often deficient in vitamin D as it requires up to twenty minutes of bright sunshine a day to synthesize adequate amounts. N.A.F. Joint Flex contains essential fatty acids and pure cod liver oil.

Instructions:

Ponies up to 200 kg: up to 40 ml (2 tablespoons) Larger ponies 300- 450 kg: up to 60 ml (3 tablespoons) Medium horses 450-600 kg: up to 80 ml (4 tablespoons) Large horses 600 kg & over: 100ml (5 tablespoons) Pregnant or lactating mares: Daily maintenance as above plus 1 tablespoon.

Store at room temperature out of direct sunlight.
